The Investigation of the fixed 1919 World Series

In September 1920 a grand jury is coviced to investigate the fix of the 1919 World Series. Soon into the investigation... "Shoeless" Joe Jackson and Eddie Cicotte confessed to the jury on September 28, 1920. The owner of the Chicago White Sox, Charles Comiskey, suspended the six still remaining in the majors for the 1920-21 season. While the investigation went on the investigators found that the Managerof Kid gleason was also involved in the fix of the 1919 World Series. At the conclusion of the investigation the grand jury decided that all eight players involved in the fix were to be banned from Major and Minor League Baseball for life! A man named Joe Gedeon, former second baseman for the St. Louis Browns, was also banned for life.
